Blue January
Somtimes it's different...
Where I surf, January is usually a bit chilly, sometimes very chilly, with frost on the dunes and a frigid wind coming from deep inland.
One day in January sticks in my memory, as it was different, very different. It was warm the night before and the dawn lacked the usually chill factor. The surf stayed glassy throughout the day and by early afternoon, it was so warm that you could have surfed in your trunks, or so it seemed. Subtropical clouds came in from the south, something I'd never seen before during this time of year and for a while, it felt like a day in August, with a soft haze stretching to the horizon and warm blue-green lefts peeling off the sandbar.
