This segment, titled “Cocktail Animals” is based on events during my time as a bartender in a wide-open, hard-driving, flesh-eating singles bar. The main character, the woman, was attractive and insecure, charming and alcoholic. The impulses and urges that drove her are symbolized by the small creatures in the dark, which we all have within us to one degree or another. They barely show up on screen and need to be seen in person. The primitive skeleton embedded in the nude is an oblique reference to the succubus and the mortal threat that sensually driven, self-indulgent women have been in my experience.
